In April, the Annandale Advocate printed an article by Managing Editor Paul Downer outlining a $625,000 grant for the "Float Your Boat" project, which was proposed to the Initiative Foundation by the Greater Lake Sylvia Association.

"An innovative new plan to protect area lakes from starry stonewart and other aquatic invasive species received a significant boost from the Initiative Foundation last Thursday, March 30."

"After a thorough application process that culminated in an oral presentation before an advisory committee for the Initiative Foundation in St. Paul last week, the foundation agreed to provide around $625,000 for the "Float Your Boat" project, which has been conceived and spearheaded by the Greater Lake Sylvia Association."

"That money will only be accessible, however, if local matching funds or in-kind donations can be raised, and if the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources ultimately approves the project."
